I hope the club turns out. We may not have to be organised, but this is the time we need to get together to insure that we can still continue wheel they we like too. And this is EXACTLY when numbers matter. The last meeting I went to, the greenies where there, handing out stickers and borchures, unless you had a red shirt on, they dont like to talk to you then....... Go RED!

David,
The tranny uses GL3 gear lube and the transfercase uses ATF. If the fluid leak is green or brown its from the tranny. If it is red then it is from the transfercase.
If you are running synthetic fluid you might try switching back to dino based. Synthetic oil leaks out easier than dino.

I think it is actually my tranny leaking. I just want another opinion b4 I take it to someplace to get fixed.
Is the fluid in a manual tranny and a TC the same fluid.

OK, before someone gets bent, there's a few things to consider:
1). Operating under an E-mail lag, and person posting may not be checking most current message.
2). "Appears" all the proper channels were gone thru to make the trail modification.
3). "Appears" there may be a double standard when it comes to modifying a "4.0" trail, as opposed to a 2-3 trail.
4). Quite simply, lotsa people seem to be hot over this!
As far as item number 1, the only thing that could have been done is a little more research and a little less typing when it comes to flaming or diametrically opposing the action(s) of a "suspect" club. I suspect it would be prudent to post only if you can contain or channel your emotions constructively. You will save allot of face this way........ or end up eating allot of crow.........
Item number 2 certainly the Forest Service would view this as a "road improvement" , so I see no reason for them to deny a request to "improve" the road. It would be NEARLY impossible for all users of the road to be polled as to whether it would be favorable to "Smooth" the ledge or leave it, and since the runners and the Vintage Bronco Club has been maintaining the trail, I can see the influence they could have, and rightfully so, especially since their money is going to ensuring road conditions are favorable and cleanup efforts are continued.
As for Item 3, proper channels were used. That fact alone makes this unlike any discussion in recent past for modifying a trail.
Now we settle on Item 4, and here is where those people most hurt by this action may see the benefit of belonging to an "Organized club". Fact is, unless you belong to an organized club, and can support activities that cost money and represent "real value" to government agencies, you'll be hard pressed to get them to listen to you.
Sure we do Table Mesa cleanups and Cove clean ups, but we require the agencies to put up dumpsters, trash bags etc. Our efforts do not go unnoticed for sure, but I bet someone would be listening closer if we were lifting a financial burden somewhere. Sorry, Guys and Gals, it's a fact of this world we live in. We're doing fine, but to get upset over this with no financial stake will most likely be fruitless for us.
There's nothing wrong with continuing just like we are, in fact, I'm in favor of that. But I am also in favor of feeling like when I hop on my soapbox, I know that we are well represented in the Off road community. Keep the AZVJC free, use it as a launching platform to introduce new 4 wheelers into our world of responsible 4 wheeling, and perhaps assist the newbie in finding a way to support his or her sport.
In today's world, Accountability goes as far as your last dollar spent.

Steve,
Those are good points. On the other hand I've replaced the front and
rear rubber hoses on my TJ with stainless lines of the correct length
and kept them protected from rubbing on the tires. There is a distinct
difference in the pedal feel with the stainless versus rubber hoses. Its
much more responsive.

Uhhhh...I beg to differ. Stainless lines are really for those who know
exactly what they are getting. They break easier if they end up
limiting your travel or if they get caught on a swamper lug. I would
stick with economical rubber lines if you can. Stu's write up is a good
one... Relocating the hardline helps also.

Anthony,
Purchase the best stainless steel brake lines you can afford and get
them sized for the tallest lift you expect to have to avoid having to
purchase a second set. The protection offered by stainless steel lines
is superior to standard brake lines and this is not an area to scrimp
in.

The Middle Gila Conservation (MGCP) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Resource Advisory Counsel is hosting an open house meeting on March 19, 2002. The meeting will run from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Best Western Hotel in Gold Canyon. (Hwy. 60 and Kings Ranch Rd.)
This meeting is open to the public. The Government Agencies would like to hear what Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) community needs or wants regarding OHV recreation in the Florence Junction and Box Canyon area.
This partnership is working towards a multi-use recreation area; we need to all participate in this meeting. Its not very often that we have an opportunity to voice our opinion in a forum such as this. Please wear a red shirt in support of OHV use.

Bill,
What's amazing is that when you compare the time I spend reading this AZVJC mail per week to the actual number of hours I spend driving or working on my Jeep per week (if any on some weeks), I definitely spend more time here than in the Jeep. At what point is this a sign of some kind of sickness?
To answer your post, between the mistress (The Jeep), reading all of these mesages, and the wife I have no energy left to argue with all of you anymore
