    Axle Alley (4.0)

Axle Alley is located in the Florence Junction area.

    Trail Rating: 4.0

One of the earlier "hard core" trails in the Florence Junction area, Axle Alley remains a favorite trail for those wanting a short but fun trail. Over the years, it has lost much of its bite as the rocks have broken down and the Jeeps have gotten bigger. But don't day dream on this trail....if you do, you buddies will most likely be giving you a hard time as you get yourself stuck or slice open a tire sidewall.

If you are pressed for time and want a relatively short run, this will fit the bill providing all vehicles are properly equipped. Lockers and a winch along with rocker and corner guards will make for a good run that doesn't leave the trail or your vehicle trashed.

    Early section of the trail.

Be careful heading up this section.

The first major obstacle is a waterfall that pretty much demands a winch assist for most vehicles. Here is the waterfall.

Long wheel base rigs can crawl the waterfall

The next section can be very frustrating trying to find the line.

Don't get ****y on the second waterfall. Doing so may result in laying your Jeep over on its side.

Final obstacle. It has gotten easier in the last few years because dirt has filled it in making it much smoother

    Another view of final obstacle

After you get passed the final obstacle, there is a clearing and the access road will take you back to the start of the trail.

The last obstacle is the ledge and steep uphill/off camber climb at the very end of the trail. Fat heavy Jeeps will usually need to winch the ledge to get to the top. A tubed out Toyota, with a good driver, can pop their vehicle up and over the ledge.

There are a couple of other less notable spots and ledges in the trail that will get you twisted up and frustrated if you don't pay attention and carefully pick your line.
